Elmina - Cape Coast Castle Circuit

This excursion focuses on the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. First, visit the Elmina Castle, a 15th century Slave Castle/Dungeon built by the Portuguese.

It stands out as unique in size and years, as regards the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. After the Slave Dungeon experience, embark on a brief walk in the Elmina historic community, see the Dutch cemetery, Fish Market and Harbor, Asafo Posuban, and learn about the livelihoods of the indigenes.

Eat lunch and continue to the Cape Coast Castle which was taken over by the English in the 1660s and expanded to its present size.

It served as a Slave emporium and administrative headquarters for the English until the Gold Coast’s capital was moved to Accra in 1877.

Sekondi - Takoradi City Tour

Explore the twin-city of Sekondi – Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region; tour the “Bisa Abrewa” Museum and see a wide collection of artifacts, history and traditions of Ghanaians, people of African descent and many more.

Visit the Sekondi fish market; discover natural habors with colorful boats, see local fish processing methods and sites, interact with fisher folks and learn about their daily lives. Continue to Fort Orange built by the Dutch in 1642 for the Trans –Atlantic Slave Trade, and catch a glimpse of the beautiful panorama of the area. After lunch drive through Takoradi and visit the Market Circle and other markets; familiarize with a variety of farm produce and interact with the women.
