Guided Elmina Walking Tour

Elmina has more to share with guests than what meets the eye. The 90-minute Elmina town tour offers in-depth information on the economic, political, historical and cultural aspects of Elmina. On this general town walk, we discover the archaeological site of old Elmina, the Mpoben Fish Market, the 19th Century Merchant Houses where prosperous Dutch Merchants lived, the Dutch Cemetery with its imposing Mausoleum and grave markers which tell the stories of European and African celebrities, canons of redoubts which fortified the town from external attacks, “Asafo posuban” traditional military posts and explain the philosophies behind their totems.

Guided Cape Coast Walking Tour

This 90-minute walking tour highlights sections of Cape Coast’s historic core area. Discover the magnificent monumental civic buildings, homes of some illustrious Ghanaians and learn about their pioneering roles in the Aborigines Right’s Protection Society preparing the grounds for our independence from the British colonial masters. Unearth the beginnings of Christian missionary work in church building and formal education, and how it has impacted lifestyle in contemporary Cape Coast.

Have a brush with a coastal fishing community; see the many colourfully painted canoes with their flags, fish processing and fishing gear mending.

Explore Cape Coast by Bus

This one-hour bus tour is an easy way of exploring a wider landscape of the town. The routing of this bus tour covers areas such as the famous London Bridge, Coronation street, Jerusalem street and Beulah Lane, all attesting to the earlier presence of the British in the town, not forgetting about the abundance of colonial architecture.

A very important feature of this trip is a view of the Fosu Lagoon, which contains exceptionally tasty species of tilapia which is in hot demand locally. Additionally, many drinking spots and local eateries are conspicuous on the route. You discover some of the numerous educational institutions, edifices of prominent national figures, open spaces and their significance, and how street names were derived.

Note on the walk/drive tours

Cost: $10 or GHC equivalent/pax. Guided tours of the townships are available seven (7) days a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Advance booking would be appreciated. Dress could be light and casual, please bring your sunshade, hat/ cap and water along.
